difference between ouds

Hiya,
I am about to buy an oud made in Syria.
I have played an Iraqi oud for the last 5 months and just wondered what the difference between Iraqi and Syrian ouds would be. Will the transition be easy for me??

Kind regards,

Little Seb

Hi Seb,
I have ouds frm both Syria and Iraq.
I don't think you will have any issues with the transition as long as you tune the oud the same way.
Good luck,
Hatem

Hi Seb,
The difference shouldn't be there. Some ouds are a bit smaller than others. As far as I know, the Turkish ones are smaller .
What defines the size is distance between the bridge and the nut. I have a couple that are 58.5 cm's, some are 61 cm, and I have one that is 62.5 cm.
In general you shouldn't feel any difference.
Regards,
Hatem
