Souhail...sorry I can't show you I don't have the material for that at this time, maybe one day in Beyruth, in front of a meal of baklawat ?
But here is in attachement a version I recorded a few time ago. It is a piece we were many to learn at Naseer Shamma school in Cairo.
http://rapidshare.com/files/186449799/flying_bird.wma.html
Hope to share more pieces with you, when I will finally get a good recorder. I have change my style of playing and the kind of piece I learn now.
Being more interested in turkish style. I steal love iraki style, but I choose different kind of piece.
By the way Souhail, and as I think you are the member how posted an answer on Bassem Rizk video on youtube. Bassem answered me and you are perfectly
right it is a Fadi Matta oud, customized to a 2 bridges system.
Best regards to both.

hey suz
in front of a meal of baklawaat?? no no, I am thinking about kebbeh nayyeh, tabbuleh, and arak
Is this you who plays in that recording? if yes, congrat pal, very well done. Looking forward to more recordings from you
I had a long talk with Fadi Matta couples of day ago he said that Bassem works mainly with him, reason why I said it's most probably a Matta oud.
Bassem works with high tension strings to reach the sound you hear on his ouds. So fadi usually makes a strong built ouds for bassem since he knows
that high tension strings are going to be used. But I was not aware about the 2 bridges system. What Bassem said? what's the purpose of it?

Hi Katakofka
...so baklawaat will come after. Ahhh and regarding to your taste, sure we can share a nice meal together..i won't forget next time I come
there!...
About the record, yes it was from me, thank you for your comment. I will try to share others.
Bassem didn't precise me in details, but told me he was playing on the first oud Fadi built, which was customized, at least with those 2 bridges.
On the videos, we can see those 2 bridges and that the soundboard is not plane: the last part, behind the bridge make an angle toward the bowl.
This allow him to put higher string tension on it, I guess by a better repartition of tension on the soundboard. The whole thing giving this so
particular sound.
Bassem didn't told me more about, sure Fadi can tell you more about.
Take care.
I put the link, if other members wish to see of which instrument we are talking about.

Thank you Katakofka for the attachement, I was not able to compress the file so much.
Hi Dubai, hope everything is going fine with you.
If another time you want to use rapidshare, click on the icon "free user", then wait after a few time like 1 minute, an icon "download" will
appear.
You can also upload files on this website if you want to share files which are too big for a forum or an email for exemple.
