Where to buy an oud
Hi everyone, this is my second post. I want to buy an oud my modest budget is around 250$. is this enough for a beginner or will it be a poor
instrument? My main qustion is where should I get my Oud, are there recommended sites or more preferably a oud supplier in Boston where I live? By the
way should I buy an 11 string or a 13 string one?
thanks a bunch

Hi yaya
you can get a cheap oud from this site
http://www.instrumentalsavings.com/category_s/235.htm&Click=240...
I would pay 100$ more and get this one
http://www.instrumentalsavings.com/Oud-Egyptian-Adorned-11-Strg-w-C...
otherwise the ones below 300$ are really bad ouds
This one might be good and fits your budget

Good luck

I have a similar oud to the second one listed above. But I have a pick up istalled which cost me $150. I also spent like 4 hours working on the pegs
to get them fit properly as they were not holding. I am sure the one you get from the web will have the same problem. I do not have hard case for it
but I can give a soft case. I am willing to part with it for $300 plus shipping. It is maid in Turkey but has no label in it as these are factory
ouds. The action is good and the string spacing is good. The only problem is it does not sound as good as the pro versions. I also changed the strings
to LaBella, and it holds it tuning. I tune to EABEAD, which is the clasical Turkish tuning. let me know if you want it.
