Small help with translating needed (again..)
I'm sorry for these offtopic messages, I know it's an oud forum not an arabic learning forum but I will record this song as soon as I learn it. I am
trying to learn "ya sabah elkhir" by oum kulthum, it's my favourite song by her.
I can understand most of it, I will post my amateurish translation, just correct or complete the small missing parts please!! I only need the
translation so I can understand and learn new words and know what I am singing. Thank you!
يا صباح الخير يللي معانا
يللي معانا
الكروان غنى وصحانا
وصحانا
What a good morning we have
And the karawan bird sings to wake us up
والشمس طالعة وضحاها
والطير اهي سارحة في
سماها
يلا معاها ..يلا معاها
and the sun comes out and shines bright
and flies with her flock in the sky
(yala m3aha is what I'm not sure about - I thought it would be "you who are with her" but it would be written الي or
الى no?or am I making it more complicated than it should be?)
يا صباح الخير يللي معانا
يللي معانا
يا هناه اللي يفوق من نومه
قاصد ربه وناسي همومه
يفرح قلبه..يسعد يومه
فرحة طول عمره ما ينساها
ولا يسلاها.. ولا يسلاها
You here that awaken
The messanger arrives and the people are troubled (????)
The heart will rejoice . . The day happy
Happinness life long, will not wait
and will not be distracted (taken off track)
الصبح أهو نوّر واتبسِم
والدنيا ضحك لي مُحيّاها
ونسيم الازهار أهو نسِّم
على أهل الدنيا وأحياها
البدرية ساعة هنية
يسعدنا جمالها وبهاها
يا محلاها.. يا محلاها
The morning I love its light and I smile
And the world shines up and comes to life
And a flowery breeze blows
on the people of the earth and revives them
A surprising hour arrives
will make us happy, it's great beauty (baha???)
You beautiful (?... not sure exactly)

It is still not perfect though. It is very hard to translate Arabic - so rich, so many accents, spoken and written languages differ, etc... But I will
be waiting for you to sing it

يسلمو ايديك ياحبيبي,
شكرا.
It is hard to translate to english, on the other hand it is not so far from hebrew, I learn arabic from a book written in hebrew, and my dictionary is
hebrew/arabic, the languages are alot closer to eachother than english (obviously), but if I asked for a hebrew translation here I would not have a
good chance no? heheh..
Thanks again, and yes arabic is very rich, sometimes it makes me sad that the way we speak hebrew today is sometimes far from showing the richness of
the hebrew language, but arabic has kept more of its beauty, I believe.

Anytime
I don't know how you manage to translate.. It's a good thing because most of the Arabic songs are sung in a spoken accent, and not the way we write
it. Your dictionary surely translates the written Arabic words and not the spoken one. Spoken accents even differ within the same country more than
you can imagine. How long have you been learning Arabic?
