Love the simplicity. All to often decoration disguises poor workmanship. With yours, there's no place to hide.
Perhaps you could try a variety of roses cut from cartridge paper (a bit like the parchment roses of early guitars). They won't spoil the sound and
are cheap and easy to make.
When you find one you like you could cut a wooden sample, though I'm not sure how one would fit a rose without lifting the top.

Hello - if you have found an instrument that plays and sounds just right to you, than that's it, no need to change it anymore ...
It is possible glue in a rose from outside (I did it once), but you must be aware that any rose will change the sound, because it's changing the the
surface area of the open holes an by that it changes the eigenfreqency of the bowl. The effect might be desirable or undesirable but if the oud sounds
just right, I wouldn't do it.
wish you all the best

Wow...beautiful, simple. Superb workmanship and choice of wood colors. Very unique -- you could just leave the sound holes open, keeping the clean
look undisturbed and the craftsmanship to speak for itself. Very cool, enjoy it in good health and hope to hear it someday.
Regards...Paul

With that choice of woods, I'm thinking he must be based in the States. I really want to hear that oud.

Looks great - like my 'blondie' but with a little more suntan.)
How is the sound? I bet it is strong - you may find its true sound can be found when playing more quietly - it is a secret these extovert ouds have
and are easily overlooked because they pull your heart strings to play strongly.

Thank u for replying
Well- the oud is very strong and really pulls me to play it strong- i would add a sound file but don't know how.
The maker lives in Israel- Jaffa (near Tel Aviv) and doesn't have any website- i can send u his cell (he speaks only Arabic and Hebrew.
I would want to mount Rosetta cause i think it will make him "relax" a bit..... if someone can help i will appreciate it

Ofer, mabrook!! What a beautiful soundboard! I am sure the redwood soundboard produces a unique, warm tone no? I think redwood is used in harp
soundboards to avoid a harsh sounding high end.
Posting a video with sound is very easy if you have access to a video camera with sound (most have a built in microphone). youtube.com makes this
process very user friendly. I'm sure any number of members on this forum would be willing to help you get a video posted, myself included.
Also, if you have a sound file already but are unsure how to post it, Mike, the forum administrator, could probably help you out with uploading it.
But for now, I will just have to imagine the beautiful sound your oud makes!
