A tuning for a travel Oud
Hey All,
Last year I bought a travel Oud. Kind of like those "back-pack" acoustic Guitars.
It's got 4 strings, similar to an old African Oud. What tuning should I use for it?
It's great for going to the park, and just jamming out or recording in the bedroom studio.

May be A D g c, to keep the highest strings with the the fourths.....and roll in the park!

is it 4 single strings or 4 double sets of strings, what is the length and could you post a photo of that travel oud? thanks, MW

It's 4 single strings, here's a photo. It was a "childrens Oud" that I found on E-bay for 43$, turned out to be a great travel oud. ;-)

Stick to 4ths
do like the old lutenists did, tune the top sting until it's a nice tension, adjust it to the nearest note on your electronic tuner, then tune the
other strings.

or you could get yourself a cheep bouzouki

I was thinking about getting one of those and tuning it like a ukulele: GCEA. Not very oud-like, I know, but I play uke and guitar more than oud.
I'm still struggling with EABead.
