Ali Akbar Khan

The great Indian sarod player Ustad Ali Akbar Khan died a few hours ago.

There's a lot of video of him on YouTube, some of it very well photographed. One of the finest musicians of the 20th century.

I wasn't sure whether or not to post something about master Ali Akbar Khan's passing, was it oud related or not?
Now that a posting is here perhaps it is fitting, if we love music and appreciate the outstanding musicians of our time then Ali Akbar Khan was a giant, a true master of his craft and pioneer. ragas and maqams, sarods and ouds share many similiarites. peace and blessings be with him.
