Two new videos of me playing my Tasos oud on YouTube

Hello folks

Just uploaded a couple of videos of me playing this evening after a long week. I seem to have a very serious face for those who know me to be otherwise - I should read the news for the Beeb :-)

I've not played so much recently so it is lovely to get back to it, I just sat down , put the camera on and recorded straight off so it aint a studio album but I hope you enjoy it. I'm going to try to make this more regular.

BTW my Tasos oud sounds better each time - its such a beautiful intsrument and I'd like to do it justice one day.

Cheers

Leon

hey Leon, nice one mate. Personally I like the sound of the Galli risha on your Tasos; seems to bring out more depth. Did you actually read all those books in the background?

Hi Matthew

Thanks for listening, I'm still playing around with different rishas. I am trying to sort out some decent recording kit so I can actually hear what I sound like - and will post more regularly ... its good to put things out there.

This is our work room and a lot of those books are on art, architecture, photography, science and all manner of stuff which is source material and eye-candy for our art practice ... more pictures than words.

We are really busy at the moment which is why such videos are in the depths of the night with me looking a bit sleepy.

How are you doing btw.

Cheers

Nice one Leon. You're certainly developing your own style and relaxing a bit more. As you say its all in the breathing!

See you in Manchester soon.

Best wishes to you and the others blondies

Hi Kelly

Thanks for looking in - it was very quickly put up, no particular practice but I am also learning some pieces so my style is less limited in the patterns I easily fall into.

I am definately easing off with the risha - its funny because I've played guitar fingerstyle for donkeys' years, which is totally different, and have a very relaxed right hand for that, I stopped using a plectrum a long time ago. Actually if I play the oud fingerstyle it can be very nice - it also feels very good to do!!

I'll post some more stuff when I can - I've been experimenting using my other camera which has very good HD image quality and reasonable sound, partly for me but also to bring to our meetings.

See you all soon

Leon

Hi Leon, that's great going. Glad you're finally going public! Look forward to vids from Manchester - and some from Oxford when you get the chance!

Thanks Dave - we'll be thinking about you ... watch out for the Yak poo :)

If you're in Langtang, I seem to remember it is strongly Tibetan - the Tibetan tea will put hairs on your chest ... this is how yetis are made.

Best regards

Leon
