yes - a lovely, pure voice. i read that for a living, she taught science in france.
i have a cd of cheikh salim fergani singing and playing with an oud like this - compared with a big, broad bowled, egyptian oud, it seems a rather
quiet instrument, i think:

Hi,
great music ! The instrument that this lady is holding is a kwitra, which is typical of Andaloucian music from west Algeria (and Morocco).
Cheikh Salim Fergani is playing a oud arbi, which is slightly different (and I think more elaborated), and common to Tunisia and East Algeria
(Constantine area). One member of the forum (Rico) found a beautiful old one, see this thread
The picking is indeed very different from the sharki style, here is another example by the great Cheikh Raymond:

enjoy

ciao danielo -
"enjoy" it i did - what a player! one of the nicest things about the music in this video is the empty spaces ... the pauses between one instrument
and another - like they have all the time in the world in which to play. really exquisite - thank you!
here's some information on cheikh raymond:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cheikh_Raymond
... rico is a very fortunate - a particularly beautiful instrument.
what does "arbi" mean?
