Where to buy a baglama?
Hi guys,
I'm looking to buy a long neck baglama but can't find a shop anywhere. I live in London and was wondering if anyone knows an arab or turkish
instrument shop in London, or in the UK in general, that sell this kind of instruments.

Hello Andre,
I just returned from Turkey and picked up a wonderful instrument from Durul Muzik. They make some of the most amazing Baglama I have seen anywhere.
The workmanship is top level and the use of materials make their instruments quite simple yet beautiful.
On the sound front they are by far the best sounding I heard in all of Istanbul and I managed to meet several famous instrument makers during my time
there. Not one maker's instruments comparedto the instruments this small company is producing. I had purchased one long saz already when I was
introduced to this group so I could only bring one back this trip. But I intend to have a long baglama and divan made by these makers in time for my
next trip out to Turkey.
I am working with them to import their instruments to Japan and to our client sites abroad. If you are interested, please get in touch and I can help
you get one of their instruments. Send me your mail address and I can send you photos of the short scale Saz I brought home this trip. They make a
similar long version that is equally wonderful. Prices range from $600- $1000 USD for existing stock and they can also make to order if you are not
in a hurry with cost depending on what you choose to have made. Hard cases are about $100 additional. A well padded soft case is included in the
price.
They work in a variety of materals. Juniper, Padauk, Maple, Mullberry and more. The company is small and gaining fame amongst baglama players in
Turkey for the quality of sound and work they produce.
I think their prices will rise substantially once they gain more international attention.
