Thanks Yaron. I am always interested in who is building what when it comes to lutes!
So, from your response, I can conclude that your lute is modelled after the well known original 6 course, mid 16th C lute by Georg Gerle - the design
modified to accommodate 7 courses and using alternative materials from the original (by U.K. luthier David van Edwards). This is a good choice of lute
design for performing the late 16th C lute repertoire so should give satisfactory results .
Checking with David van Edward's web site, I note that he offers a complete lute building package including step by step instructions on CD-ROM, Full
Size drawing etc. It will, therefore, be useful to others interested in making a lute (or an oud!) - and who might want to purchase the package - to
see how you progress with the project.
As an experienced luthier you will, of course, find no problem in completing the project successfully. |
