I use Audacity.

Some older versions of basic Quicktime have a pitch control function that is independent of speed control. I use the "Amazing Slowdowner" from Roni
Music.

Transcribe! is my favorite of the programs for doing this. Amazing Slow Downer comes in a close second.
Quicktime can do it, but the results don't sound as good.
Audacity works, but is slower and not as easy to use as the others.

Thank you all very much
I knew all the others except Transcribe! It is a very nice app.

i find the interface of the program 'capo' to be more useful than 'amazing slow downer'.
for flash files, the old version of quicktime 7 still has pitch control (among others) built in...
