This oud is probably converted in to a floating bridge but definitely not done by Fadel. Bowl, neck and pegbox are original and originally was this
oud with a fixed bridge .The dimensions of the bowl is more typical for a classical oud. The soundboard is of very poor workmanship for a oud by Fadel
- very obvious. Soundboard and bowl without the typical curvature which is a signature for a Bashir oud by Fadel. Whether they have the "mandolin
bend" or not.
I don't understand how you can say the sound is fabolous when it actually sounds very bad.zakiya_alali - 3-13-2017 at 12:42 AM
Thank you for ur input which i dont agree with.
Regarding the sound i think its fabulous and if u dont then its matter of opinion.
But for argument sake here is another video of the oud
I'll have to strongly agree with Ronny Anderson. Two bads don't make it good !
No offense, but that's a straight fake Fadel!
I'm usually quite reluctant to engage in such subjects, but felt kinda obliged this time.
Two wrong doesn't make it right, no offence to you or Ronny.alaaraj - 3-18-2017 at 11:59 PM
It's very easy to check its authenticity by contacting Mohammed Fadel sons, they are easily contactable on Facebook ..Matthias - 3-19-2017 at 06:03 PM
Hello,
I am really wondering about a few things:
the pictures from the backside show 2 different instruments
one has 15 ribs & theother 17 or 19 - the picture quality is so bad to be able to count it exactly
I am wondering about the label:
why is there a crack in the paper not following the rib connection, while there cannot be seen any crack in the rib?
This happens as it can be seen in the added pic of a repair I once did.
The number may correspond to the year.
I have pictures of over 55 Fadhel aouds, but none of them has such a bad quality: as Ronny said the string fastening was applied later and is a bad workmanship, not Fadhel did it
the positions of the soundholes are absolutely crazy
the size of the pegbox is for me not typical for M. Fadhel
I am not shure M. Fadhel did make open soundholes in 1975 - are there any informations about that? would be interested.
Dear Matthias,
Over the years, I came to care more about the oud built itself. Turns out, the old oud makers didn't put much attention into their labels. Faking the
label is by far the easiest part in this scheme.
The point I made was regarding the oud design and many many parts of the oud. Just a couple of things that stand out as "screaming fake" are the
string tie block at the bowl base, and the lack of symmetry of sound holes.
The late Fadel never made such poor (lack of) designs!
As mentioned before, I'm not going through rhetoric with the owner.

Ok Mr expert take it easy.
You are such a freak.Etman - 3-30-2017 at 10:31 AM
Definitely the soundboard is not original and must be fake for the same reasons mentioned above !
Definitely the sound is awful and ugly, in my opinion !!
I'm unhappy to see the discussion going in the wrong direction !zakiya_alali - 3-30-2017 at 11:22 AM
