Here is the newest addition to my family of Ouds. Iam verry Thankfull to Mr.Steven Bayne for his professionalism and incredible work ethics.
Here are the pictures of this new baby. There are small marks of abuse that can be seen on this oud from the orignal owner. So mr. Saad Al-Tayyar will
be performing some work on this wonderfull peice in the summer.SamirCanada - 3-14-2006 at 10:37 AM

Hey Samir,
If your oud sounds anything like Lee Varis' Fouad Jihad oud, then you are one lucky dude! I will soon have video of Afif and TP21 playing Lee's Fouad
Jihad oud. It is an amazing instrument. You are lucky to own one bud.
Take care,

Hey Samir,
Congratulations on the new oud. It looks great. This was the oud that was on ebay a few weeks backs isn't it? I almost bid on it myself.
Adnanmavrothis - 3-14-2006 at 12:21 PM

Thanks god blessMike - 3-14-2006 at 03:17 PM
Here you go guys. You all should have seen Lee's face as he was watching these guys play the oud. It was much like a proud father would look watching
his kid performing on stage!
HI, Mike and Samir,
can you tell me what type of strings are being used Lee and your Jihad oud?
Also what tuning you are using.
Thanks so muchJameel - 3-14-2006 at 03:45 PM
Mike, Great videos.
TP21, I'm speachless. I'm going to start calling you little Afif! You've obviously have not only been practicing, but your talent is short-circuiting
my computer! Congratulations!Mike - 3-14-2006 at 03:52 PM
Be on the look out for some more TP in the next MP3 page update. This is just a teaser!Jonathan - 3-14-2006 at 05:21 PM
Your playing blows me away, Peter. So clean and soulful. The video is great, Mike. You seem to use each finger equally Peter, which is something I
just haven't achieved yet. The speed and accuracy you get is just an amazing thing to watch, and hear.revaldo29 - 3-14-2006 at 06:56 PM
WOW peter! Correct me if I'm wrong, but you've only been playing for about 2-3 years right? I was amazed by the precision and control of the finger
board. Well done my friend. You calfironia folks are very fortunate to be in the midst of such great musicians to learn from.revaldo29 - 3-14-2006 at 06:58 PM
Oh btw mike, the old oud sounds awesome. From what i've gathered so far from listening to tons and tons of recordings, it seems that the sound of an
aged oud is far superior to new ones (or it could be that I only hear to good ones).SamirCanada - 3-14-2006 at 10:30 PM
Thanks Mike these videos were Awsome.
I have a question to Lee about his foad oud... How much better did the sound become after adding those feet to the brige. I love the sound of the foad
exept right now its a bit stuffy at the high treble notes did it help that?dubai244 - 3-14-2006 at 11:55 PM
Hi Samir,
Congratulations, i loved your oud. it seem that it is really good oud. I am windering made of which kind of wood? is it Rose ?
Anyway, my advice, try pyramids strings, they are really good for high tuning.
Thanks....jshead - 3-15-2006 at 02:28 AM
Hey, dubai244
which pyramid strings do you recommend for a foud oud?SamirCanada - 3-15-2006 at 10:40 AM

Thanks so much
Tuning: CFAdgc
Pyramid lute strings from Matthias Wagner.
Thanks for those videos Mike... its amazing how good the oud sounds even in such a bad acoustic environment - a lot of background noise and it was
raining like crazy that night!
Wish I could sound as good as those guys. Peter, you rock! TruePharaoh21 - 3-15-2006 at 12:04 PM
Hey everyone,
Thank you all for your kind words. I really do appreciate them.
Mike, thanks a lot for putting up this video to begin with. I feel quite honored.
Lee, many thanks for letting me use the oud. Lee actually let me use the oud during the last concert Kan Zaman had, and it was really a great
experience. Thanks again.

Oh, and Samir...
Congratulations on your new oud, man! It looks great. I don't have access right now to speakers, so I haven't heard what it sounds like, but if it's
anything like what I've experienced (thanks to Lee), it will quickly become one of your favorites.
Congratulations again!

Sorry I missed this a while back -- the change in sound is subtle but it definitely helps - kind of opens up a bit better way up the neck– the notes
ring out just a bit more. Like I said its subtle. There just might be a very slight improvement in volume too. The bone bridge piece also helps with
tuning as the strings slip across the bridge easier.
