Bir gonlume bir hal-i perisanima baktim translation request

Amos - 5-31-2008 at 09:04 PM

Hey everyone,
The Turkish speakers on this board have been extremely helpful to me on several occasions in helping me work out the meanings of some of my favorite pieces...I am again asking for help in translating a beautiful Tatyos Rast Sarki...here are the lyrics (without the Turkish alphabet, so forgive me):

bir gonlume bir hal-i perisanima baktim
zalim seni yad eyleye ah eyele caktim
sen yoksun o yok ben yildiriz cildiracaktim
salim seni yad eyleye ah eyleye caktim

teshekkur edirim!
i look forward to any help, thank you,
amos

Hello amos,

The true transcription of the lyric is below:

Bir gönlüme bir hal-i perişanıma baktım
Zalim seni yâd eyleye ah eyleye çaktım
Sen yoksun o yok ben yalınız çıldıracaktım
Zalim seni yâd eyleye ah eyleye çaktım

And the meaning of it is here

I looked into my heart and looked at my desolate aspect

Heartless! I drank thinking of you ah! Thinking of you

You were lacking he/she was lacking I would rave all alone

Heartless! I drank thinking of you ah! Thinking of you

Faruk Usta,
thank you so much for this translation efendim. tatyos' lyrics are so dark and moving, and capture the true essence of his struggle through life. thank you again for taking the time to help me. sag olun,
amos
