Hello all, :)

Could anybody translate the certificate here? Sorry about the image quality, it was taken with a camera phone.

Thanks, FastForward.

Can anyone confirm that it's a genuine Fadel?

genuine

Whoops, sorry about that. It didn't even occur to me to post pictures of the oud itself.

Yes the oud is genuine and on the first picture you can see the bent soundboard which is a typical feature for the Bashir model by Fadel. Also soundboard wood and design are typical for Fadel. The bowl is not made of Indian rosewood like most earlier Bashir models but the date on this oud confirms a difficult time.

Thanks, Ronny.

So, just so I'm 100% certain, it was made by THE Muhammad Fadel and not by one of his sons?

Also, can anybody tell me what types of wood the oud is made of?

It is clear fadhel oud and also you have a Certificate about it. Good luck

You cannot be 100% sure since Fadel was an elderly man and his sons were always working with him. I don’t see that of any importance at all whether the oud is made only by Fadel himself or with assistance. The wood is probably walnut and the light wood platanus so called plane tree.
