Hi Guys

This is the Bashir oud by Fawzy Monshed that I mentioned earlier on this topic. Shown here is Ahmed Mukhtar giving lesson to me during my visit to London last year.

Do you guys think the end area of the peg box look a lil bit different?

Close Up!

Please notice the size of the ribs that Fawzy use to build this model-kind of slim than the normal size he normally do. (check out the material he use to attach the ribs together from the inside)

Zul, the pegbox looks very much the same on the one that I had (Shamma's).
But it looks like if he used multiribbed bowl - more than 21 ribs.

Best wishes

Ronny

Zul, Fawzy told me that his Bashir oud are now improved, if you compare them with his earlier works like the oud Shamma played on some years ago that had some weak points.

Hi Ronny

I think that will be the new Fawzy Oud that Mukhtar use to teach me recently-remember the multiple ribs technique? The sound is more projected too!

Yes Zul, that's the one. It will be very interesting to play this new improved model when Shamma's oud was an excellent oud (especially after the sounboard was replaced. ) I don't think the number of ribs affects the sound so much, it's more the wood and other construction details.
